In December of 1999, Jay-Z (born Shawn Carter) was arrested by New York City police after he allegedy stabbed a record executive, Lance Riveria, in a Manhattan club. The hip hop mogul mantained his innocence, but eventually plead guilty to a lesser misdeamanor and served three years probation. Riveria filed a civil suit against Jay-Z, which eventually settled for $500,000 to One Million.
