It all started when…

Shelby took a jewelry and metal-smithing class at Detroit Country Day High School. She fell in love with the diversity of techniques used in creations, the physical interaction and connection between art and the body, and how jewelry allowed her to take a fragment of her imagination and bring it to life. She began creating highly detailed surreal sculptures that in some way attached to the human body. Her early pieces either exaggerated the beauty of nature and life or explored dark and morbid aspects of death. At the age of 19, Shelby moved to NYC where she has been based since. Shelby Graduated from Pratt Institute in 2019 with her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Architectural Design. In 2022, she graduated with her master’s degree from Parsons School of Design. Although she has moved away from the field of architecture, she still uses her knowledge of construction and structural systems in her pieces to reinvent the way stones are set. Nothing is impossible in Shelbys curious world. Full of color, texture, innovation, and incredible stones, Shelby concocts tangible pieces of her imagination into wearable works of art. Shelby brings a surreal aspect to jewelry to displace the ordinary and challenge typical notions of adornment. Shelby’s pieces have a whimsical spirit and duality that are at once unsettling and reassuring. The wearer or viewer steps into an unknown surreal universe inspired by nature, dreams, travel, and material exploration.
